Hi everyone! I’m so excited and honored to be a part of this AMAZING blog hop. We are doing this hop to share our winning cards for the 2014 World Card Making Day contest presented by PaperCrafts and Scrapbooking Magazine. Click the link to see the newsletter and go to the blog hop home.
I was one of three winners in the Hello/Thinking of you category.
Here is my card!
I was inspired by the new Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine collection and its bright colors. I die cut the Hello out the front of a standard A2 sized card using the die from the collection. Then, I adhered the Lawn Fawn diagonal striped patterned paper to the inside of the front panel so the pattern would show through the die cut area. To add something special, I added custom-made buttons using different colors of Papertrey Ink cardstock (my favorite) that coordinate with the patterned paper. I made these with a really awesome die set from Papertrey Ink called Button Stacks. There are actually three different sets that were produced with different button shapes and sizes.
After I made this card, I went button crazy and ended up making tons of die cuts out of different colors of cardstock and felt so that I would have them on hand for a quick and easy future embellishment.Last but not least, I can’t make a card without adding just a sprinkle of enamel dots.
Here is one of my other entries for the contest in the same category (it didn’t win):
I was inspired to create this card by a framed painting above my bed. It has a rustic feel to it with ironwork birds on a wire and clothespins. I searched my stamp stash for the best birds for the job and found a couple in a 7 Gypsies set I picked up from Tuesday Morning. After fussy cutting the birds out, I decided on a background paper from Crate Paper’s Maggie Holmes Styleboard collection. LOVE THIS PAPER! Can’t say enough about it. I found some black and white newsprint Thickers and decided they needed color. I inked the letters up with different colors of Tim Holtz Distress Ink and then added a touch of Walnut Stain Distress to the edges to make them look worn. I also Distressed the entire front panel of the card with the same Walnut Stain color to create a cohesive look.
Hope you enjoyed my cards. Please check out all of the other very talented ladies on this hop to see their winning creations! Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
