Life is Sweet

Hi everyone.. Just a quick post.. I have been very sick with the flu over the past week or so and  just today I’m feeling well enough to craft a bit. I haven’t finished the cards I’m working on for Valentine’s, so instead I will share a card I made a while back.

As most of you know Simonsaysstamp.com always has amazing promotions on their site. They are one of my absolute favorite places to order my craft supplies not to mention the infinite amount of inspiration their design team gives with each new release or occasion. This past September they put on a huge celebration called Stamptember and collaborated with top designers and companies to bring us exclusive stamp sets. One of those stamp sets I could not pass up. Being a card maker at heart the Tim Holtz exclusive  stamp set was the perfect size for cards.

My card was made with the adorable icecream cone image. I have seen so many people use the image to add extra scoops and wanted to create my own version. I have recently fallen in love again with my Distress markers and using them to watercolor. I applied the marker directly to my nonstick craft mat surface, added a couple of water sprays and now you have ink to watercolor with. I love that you can control the intensity of the color by how little or how much water is added to the ink.

Of course I used Tim Holtz Distress watercolor paper, but you can use any watercolor paper of your choice. To help keep the ink within a boundary, so to speak, I stamped the images with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then, topped each scoop off with distress stickles in coordinating colors.

I love that this card can be given for a birthday or to a loved one for a special occasion. Hope to be back soon with Valentine card shares… Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

This looks GREAT!!! I so love it! The colors are fabulous. Also love that you used markers to watercolor! Genius! So sorry to hear you have been sick. That is rough stuff going around. Godspeed on your recovery! Warm, crafty hugs!
