Day 3 of A Stenciled Christmas combines two of my favorite companies, Lawn Fawn and Tim Holtz. I wanted to create a card with this super cute owl but I hadn’t purchased any background woodgrain stamps or stencils yet. So, after thumbing through my stencils I found a vertical stripe layering stencil from Tim Holtz. This was going to work. It is called Stripes, simply put. I got out my embossing paste and used Broken China Distress ink to tint the paste before applying it over my stencil. I set it aside to dry and began working on my main image.
I chose the cutest owl in all the land from Lawn Fawn’s Winter Owl stamp set and colored him with Copics. I then die cut him out with the coordinating die. I also used the sentiment and branch from another Lawn Fawn favorite called Winter Sparrows. The sentiment “Season’s Tweetings” was heat embossed in white on a vellum tag. I love the look of white embossing powder on vellum, I was first introduced to this beautiful combination by Nichol Magourik. I just love her blog.
Lastly, I added a few embellishments of pearls, gems and snowflakes for added interest. Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting! :)
