Hello crafty peeps! It’s day 2 of A Stenciled Christmas, where I share Christmas cards that I have made with various stencils in my stash. Today’s card features one of my favorite stencils called Flower Medley by Dylusions.
When I came across this stencil, in my mind I pictured a bouquet of poinsettia. I wanted to bring this vision to life with bright and bold colors. The only way I saw this happening was to use Tim Holtz Distress inks. I love them so much! I chose Festive Berries, Barn Door, and Mowed Lawn distress inks to work with. I began by temporarily adhering the stencil to a precut piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper. Using my round mini ink blending tool, I randomly blended the colors onto the cardstock. It’s so fun adding each layer of ink, knowing that each time you do this, it will turn out different.
Once I was happy with the colors, I carefully removed the stencil. I am so thrilled with how it turned out! I spritzed a little Perfect Pearls mist onto the panel and set it aside to dry. In the meantime, I picked out a Papertrey Ink die from their One Liners Collection. This set of dies are absolutely gorgeous. It comes with a set of three dies (Peace, Love and Joy), all of which are in a beautiful cursive script. After die cutting the word Joy out of PTI Pure Poppy cardstock, I adhered it to a strip of vellum to mute the background and help the word stand out a bit. I then adhered the finished panel to a standard A2 top folding card, also in PTI Pure Poppy. This is a really great true Christmas red and it’s perfect. Here’s the finished card.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Just a reminder, I am hosting a CRAFTY GOODIES GIVEAWAY every Thursday until Christmas. To enter, all you have to do is either post a comment or follow my blog! You never know, there might be a stencil or two ;). Hope everyone has a wonderful day and Happy Crafting!
